Steve Chen is a seasoned biotech attorney and executive with more than 17 years of experience advising life sciences companies on intellectual property, corporate, and regulatory matters.

Prior to joining Ensem, Steve served as General Counsel of HiFIBiO Therapeutics, a clinical-stage biotechnology company with global operations in the U.S., Europe, and China, overseeing legal, compliance, and intellectual property matters in support of research, clinical development, and business operations. Before that, he was Senior Patent Attorney at DSM-Firmenich, leading global patent prosecution and IP strategy, and supporting acquisitions, collaborations, and product lifecycle management. He began his legal career in the patent practice at the international law firm Jones Day.

Steve received his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law, and Ph.D. in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of Maryland, College Park. He is admitted to practice law in New York, New Jersey, and Maryland, and performs his role remotely from Maryland.
